The clubs: getting it right
Among the areas to address are :
- They must set the price of a round/subscriptions at a level which secures the financial health of the facility whilst being affordable to as many golfers as possible.
- They must manage the course set-up to include reasonable pin placements, sensible green speeds, playable bunkers, and roughs which are not too thick or extensive (balls should be easy to find ).
- They must ensure that course design and length give an enjoyable challenge for all abilities, in an appropriate time frame. Also ensure that course routing and tee time starting intervals allow a steady flow of play.
- They must consider the different needs of all their golfers - and potential golfers - who they wish to serve.
We think that too many clubs aim most of their efforts at keeping the best players satisfied. As a result, they often incur too much expense and rounds which take too long.
