Golfing authorities: their roles
We suggest their roles in recreational golf are :
- To set rules which achieve a balance between fairness and enjoyment for players of all abilities.
- To legislate for the ball and clubs so that equipment fits the courses, not vice versa.
- To develop handicapping systems which allow recreational golfers of any ability to enjoy whichever format of the game they choose to play.
Are these the correct parameters for their roles? Are the best interests of recreational golf being served by the authorities at present?
The REAL golf survey hopes to gain a better insight into these questions.
