Who we are
Member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club since 2002. A member of Rungsted in Denmark for more than 30 years and on the board from 2001 to 2009. Handicap 9.
Since 1996 chairman of a sponsor scheme aimed at funding the development and support of young Danish golfers - among the top three sponsors of the Danish Golf Union.
Trained in strategic marketing and set up his own communication consulting company in 1982 with an American partner. Retired in 2001 when he sold the company.
Broadcaster (BBC Panorama, Nationwide etc) journalist and author (“Golf with Tony Jacklin” etc.)
Produced and presented golf videos: “A Course for All Seasons” for the Royal and Ancient Golf Club; “Tips from the Masters”; “How to Play Golf with Tommy Horton”.
Co-opted member of Royal and Ancient Golf Club's Advisory Panel and The R&A's Golf Course Committee for 15 years during which he produced and chaired International Conferences at St Andrews.
Despite poor skills (handicap 18) he played in many celebrity tournaments for charity. Formerly a member of East Berks, The Berkshire and Temple (where he was a Director for four years).
Member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club since 1987 and of Royal Liverpool for 50 years. Also member of Aldeburgh and his “home club” Frinton.
Served on a number of club committees and on The R&A Golf Course Committee. A Trustee of the Arthur Havers Bursary (former Open champion) which raises funds for and promotes Junior golf.
Has been in golf-related publishing for over 30 years and is Publisher of “The Golf Club Secretary” newsletter, the monthly subscribed-for publication covering all aspects of golf club and course management.
Runs the publication’s Open Championship, now in its 18th year.
The late Nick Park, R.I.P.
Nick Park played recreational golf for over 50 years. In that time, he developed an interest in how golf courses are built and maintained. He listed his father, Eddie Park, and agronomist Jim Arthur as his mentors.
Over the last 30 years, he wrote and lectured extensively on the subject. Author of “The Management of British Golf Courses” and “The Golf Ball: Saint or Sinner?”. Served 1986-2011 on Golf Course Committees of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club and The R&A.
Member: Waterville, Lindrick, and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. He had retired as a dentist and lived in south west Ireland.
Member of Temple Golf Club where he started playing golf in 1965. Previously single figure handicap, now 14. Chairman of Green in 1990 and latterly Course Consultant.
Hon Life member of Askernish Golf Club in the Outer Hebrides, which he has helped restore. Has visited many courses around the world meeting Course Managers, Agronomists, Turf Scientists, Golf Course Architects, and Golf Administrators. Former Chairman of the Greenkeeping Development Committee at the Berkshire College. Served as a consultant to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club's Golf Course Advisory Panel, and appeared in videos including the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association video “Golf Course Ecology.”
Author of “Confessions of a Chairman of Green,” “A Natural Course for Golf,” and joint author of “The Wildside of Golf”
